Purpose of Activity:

Behavioral Incentive

Suggested Grade Level:

K-2

Materials Needed:

You will need one cut out car per class and die cuts or some other representation of states in the U.S. (example Arizona, Maryland, etc.) optional: border that looks like a road and can be placed between the states and/or state facts under each state.

Description of Idea

This behavioral system is used as a class award for students in Kindergarten through second grade. If a class is able to make it through a class period with a predetermined number of warnings they will get to "move the class car" to the next state. When the class car arrives at a predetermined state they celebrate by having choice activity time. Usually the celebration state is the eighth or ninth state a class car moves to along the road. The states are placed on the wall around the gym connected by border that looks like roads.

This sounds particularly useful for a classroom teacher. Anything that helps elicit correct behavior is great with me! I like the like with geography and U.S. history.
