Creating a Positive Climate for Learning
Creating an atmosphere to foster learning is one of the most important tasks of teaching. This requires teachers to employ many different strategies to motivate students, to increase students opportunities to learn, to help students learn and maintain appropriate behavior, to promote student self-responsibility, and to foster accountability. This section is broad in its scope and will address many issues ranging from enhancing self-esteem to managing student behavior to organizing the learning environment. We must keep in mind the importance of context -- that is, what will work in one situation may not work exactly the same way in another.
