Name of Activity:

Coach's Eye Technology Tool

Purpose of Activity:

To use technology during class to assess student learning.

Prerequisites:

Teacher needs to have devices available such as iPads or tablets for students to use (the number of tablets depends on size of classes). Download the Coach’s Eye App. Teacher demonstrates use of Coach’s Eye and how to record a video.

Suggested Grade Level:

3-5

Materials Needed:


5-10 iPads or Tablets
5-10 soccer balls (or equipment for skill you wish to assess) Coach’s Eye App

Description of Idea

Students will practice manipulative skills while self-assessing and peer-assessing in the process.

-Break students into groups of 3-4 students.
-Students will video each other performing the skill using the Coach’s Eye App.
-Students will then use slow motion on the video to assess themselves and peers performing the skill.
-Once assessment is complete video is deleted.

I use assessments created by Pete Charette.
They can be purchased at Cap'n Pete's Power PE
Assessments can be checklists made to fit your criteria.
