PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Welcome to Physical Education

Category: Beginning of School

Suggested Grade Level: K-2

Materials: construction paper; images of fruits, vegetables, water & milk with smiley faces found on Google Images; saying generated on computer; cut out letters made with Ellison machine

Half of the students I teach (Kindergarteners) enter Physical Education not having a clue what it is or what we do in Phys. Ed. class. I created this bulletin board that sums up in a nice little rhyme what Physical Education is all about in a few phrases. I created the smiling heart flexing it's muscles out of construction paper, and I use it with some of my other bulletin boards throughout the year. I found images of fruits, vegetables, milk, and water all with smiley faces on Google Images, printed them out, and laminated them. The letters for the title were created with our school's Ellison machine. Lastly, I created the saying on my computer, taping together the words on each line. I refer to this board quite a bit as students are in line waiting to exit the gym reminding them to get exercise and make healthy food choices every day.
