PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Winter Olympic Medal Count

Category: Olympics

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: print shop for country names, internet for the flags, Olympic Rings and sport pictures, construction paper, gold, silver and bronze medals, laminated paper

During our Winter Olympics unit, we keep track of the number of medals our students earn for THEIR country on this bulletin board in the cafeteria (where the students go every day and can see the results daily). I update the board every day after my morning classes (and our competition is over for the day). The students are learning a valuable lesson in competing for the glory of sport and representing a county. You should hear them talk on the bus!!!

Additional Information:

We have laminated the paper that needs to be updated each day. Use a dry erase marker because it erases easily so you can update medal totals daily. Each of my classes has the same 6 countries represented (I choose the 6 countries that would do well in the "real" Olympics). So each class has a Russian Team, a USA Team, a Germany team and so on.
