Name of Activity:

PEP CLUB (Physical Education Patrol)

Purpose of Activity:

To reward classes who show encouragement, sportsmanship, and how to work as a team.

Suggested Grade Level:

3-5

Materials Needed:

We have 2 barrels filled with playground equipment, such as basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, jump ropes, and four-square balls.

Description of Idea

As a reward for good behavior, including sportsmanship and teamwork, we pick an All*Star Class of the week. This class is then in charge of coming to the PE room every morning and checking out the playground equipment for the whole school to use. They wear special buttons, that give them permission to be on the playground to check on equipment when necessary. They are also responsible for bringing in the equipment at the end of the day!

They are taught how to use the electric pump to put air in the balls and have access to the physical education room. This is all done with cooperation from the teachers and usually takes about 10-12 minutes each day. When a class has earned three All*Star awards, they are given a Free Time Friday, where they may choose as a class their favorite PE activity, that we play on that day.
