A student teacher was introducing the topic of moving in general space using different animal walks with an emphasis on safety to a group of first grade students. For example: "watch where your going"; "move into open space"; "no bumping into others", etc. At first, students were told to move like a bear, frog, bunny, etc. Then, students were told to move like any animal they wanted. One student began running wild all over the place. Bumping into the wall with absolutely no control. The student teacher stopped the student and said, "What are you doing? You are not following the safety rules. You are bumping into everyone and everything". The student replied, "but I am a chicken with my head cut off and I can't see where I am going".
