On the day before my due date I was teaching my last class before I began my maternity leave with my first child. I was reminding my 5th grade students that when they came to PE the following week they would have a new teacher who would be finishing the school year as their PE teacher since I would not be returning after my baby was born. The class lined up at the door to leave and a small group of girls came up to ask me the typical questions about if I was having a boy or girl, and if I had picked out names yet. The last little girl had apparently missed my pregnancy announcement earlier in the year and she caught me completely off guard with her comment. She said, "Mrs. Dvorak, I knew a physical education teacher couldn't be THAT out of shape!"
