PE Central Kids Quote of the Week
For week beginning Monday, June 25, 2001
In my Kindergarten class, we were working with various non-locomotor movements such as bend, turn, twist, etc.. For each movement, I asked them to move their entire body using that movement and then to select just one body part to move in the same way. I was using "swing" and we had swung our entire bodies in different ways. Then I asked them to select just ONE body part to "swing". For some this isolation is difficult. However, they were getting better with one arm, one leg, one head, and other appropriate choices. Then I looked over at Heather, a very sharp student, and she had her hand up to her mouth and I saw no movement. I said,"Heather, I thought we were selecting one body part to swing?" She looked at me very innocently and replied, " I am. I have a loose tooth and I am swinging it!" How could I argue with that?
