PE Central Kids Quote of the Week
For week beginning Wednesday, May 21, 1997
I was teaching 9th graders in health class this past week and we were discussing Noninfectious Diseases. The topic I was lecturing on concerned "Detecting and Treating Cardiovascular Disease." I was explaining electrocardiograms, angiographies, bypass surgery and heart transplants.
During the discussion about heart transplants a student asked me "How does someone who needs a heart get one?" I explained that another person donates their heart so another person can receive it and live.
Curiously, that same student raised their hand again and asked "But...the person who donates their heart, don't they DIE?!"
