Since my last name is Winn, I decided to call all of my students "Winn-ers." This makes it easy for me to remember my students names when I see them at the grocery store, etc. The kids really enjoy this. Sometimes students will say to their parents "She really knows my name. She just likes to call me a winner."

One day I had a first grade boy come up to me with a very troubled look on his face. He informed me that he was going to be moving to another school. I said, "Oh, you'll like it there! Your P.E. teacher is Mr. Peacock. He is a very nice man."

The boy paused, very puzzled, and asked me "Will I still be a winner or will I have to be a peacock?"
