As many primary level teachers do, I throw out a hoop (with back spin) and it "magically" comes back when I say "Come back Herman". During a recent hoop lesson, a class of first graders was practicing this "trick". Anthony asked "Mrs. Workman, can I use your hoop?" I replied, "No, Anthony, just use the one you have". After several other unsuccessful attempts, he turned back to me and said "I need a smarter one."
