A few years ago I talked with some 4th and 5th grade girls about the "Prison Dodgeball" game they played with their classroom teacher during their "classroom teacher" PE time. As you can see they shared some interesting insights about their experiences with this activity.

Me: Why are the boys so psyched about prison dodgeball?

Bianca: They like taking their anger out on the ball and then throwing it at people.

Erica: Yeah, they like to show off how they throw--how hard they throw and they can get people out. They never let the girls have the ball and throw it because they think we can't throw. We aren't going to get anyone out so their team is going to lose so we normally don't get the ball very much.

Me: Is that bad?

Erica: I would like to be in the game more. It is more fun than just standing out on the side and watching everyone else get everybody else out.
