On the final day of my college student teaching experience, my supervising teacher informed the class that it would be my last day with the students. A 1st grader named Tyrone, who had produced a number of challenging disciplanary situations for me throughout my experience, exited the line in which the students were standing. He walked up to me, hugged my leg and said "Mr. S., you don't have to leave. My mom works in the cafeteria, I bet she could get a job for you down there". I'll never forget it.
