While supervising our bus room at the beginning of school, I thought naming and color coding bases would help students remember just which bus they were to ride. So, we had the "Green Machine" and the "Red Bug" bus. This worked wonderfully, until one afternoon a teacher approached me with a kindergarten friend who couldn’t remember her base…so this was the perfect time to see if my plan was successful. I asked little Diamond did she ride the "Green Machine" or the "Red Bug" bus? Her reply, "I ride the yellow one".
