A group of students were asked to explain "what getting in shape means." They were also asked to suggest things that would help people "get in shape." Responses were sent in by 2nd graders using E-mail.

"A person who was in shape would be healthy. They would not have to take pills, they would be strong. They woudl eat healthy foods and would be able to pick up really heavy things. They would not watch television or would not watch much television. Are you talking about being in shape physically or mentally? There is a difference you know!"

"Run around your yard or neighborhood five times."

"Ride your bike if you have one."

"You need to diet. Don't eat junk foods like chips and coke and pepsi. Eat healthy food. Apples, bananas, grapes, lettuce, peanut butter, cabbage, vegetables, are all healthy foods."
