Title: Elementary PE Dribbling with Basketball Lesson (20 Min.)
Description: Elementary PE Teacher Tom Winieki teaches a lesson on basketball dribbling to his 4th graders in March of 2013. The video was submitted to the NFL as part of Tom's effort to become the 2013 NFL Network Physical Education Teacher of the Year. He submitted it along with this lesson plan and he won the award! Not shown in the video is his warm up, which, in a nutshell has the class began with a team marathon where each student wore a pedometer. The kids put themselves in teams and run laps at the beginning of each class. They add them up and try to get to 26 miles in 4 weeks. If they finish early, they donate their extra laps each day to the team/class of their choice so we get all classes to 26 miles by the end of 4 weeks. Also not shown is the full ending of the class but it ended with the students adding up their pedometer steps and adding that to their running total of steps. They earn sneaker medals for every 10,000 steps.
