Name of Activity:
Fingerpad Basketball Dribbling
Purpose of Activity:
To assess 1st grade students on their grasp of the concept of using finger pads to control the ball in a hand dribble.Suggested Grade Level:
K-2Description of Idea
I administer this simple assessment to my first grade students. I do this just before we do our cool down near the end of class. As they finish, I can quickly score it and hand it back during the time they are cooling down. (I used to have them trace their hand but it took too long to adminsiter).
Directions: At the end of a PE class have students circle or color the part of the hand they use to dribble a ball.

Teaching Suggestions:
I use this for first grade students. I administer it just before we do our cooldown and as they finish I can quickly score it and hand it back during the time they are cooling down. By providing the hand already on the assessment it goes very quickly.
