Name of Activity:

Show You Know It Lining Up Closure Idea

Purpose of Activity:

To quiet students down after an exciting class and to occasionally incorporate a closure from the days activities. This closure allows the teacher to check for student understanding.

Suggested Grade Level:

K-5

Materials Needed:

Line on ground for students to stand on.

Description of Idea

After asking students to line up on the line, have them sing one of the following 2 verses to the tune of "If You're Happy and You Know It". This gets their attention off of talking to each other and on the words they are singing and you.

Verse #1

  • If you're ready to go, stand real tall
  • If you're ready to go, stand real tall
  • If you're ready to go, and you want your teacher to know
  • If you are ready to go, stand real tall.

Verse #2 (use after a throwing lesson)

  • If you can step with your opposite foot point and throw (students
demonstrate over or underhand throwing motion)
  • If you can step with your opposite foot point and throw (same)
  • If you can step with your opposite foot and you really want
to show it, find your target and show me how you throw.

It is fun to have the kids make up their own words to this as well.
