PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Character Tree

Category: Character Education

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: Tropical bulletin board set, bulletin board paper, and tropical garland found at the dollar store

The purpose of this bulletin board is to increase character in PE. Students will be entering into our teambuilding unit and this board coincides with the social skills and expectations learned throughout the school year and more specifically this one unit. Each day we discuss one of the 7 characteristics of character: cooperation, trustworthiness, responsibility, respect, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Each day we focus on one of the characteristics and ways to demonstrate that. I provide students challenges to overcome pertaining to that character trait and then we discuss the results of the challenge. The coconuts have ways to demonstrate the characteristics such as helping someone in need, sharing, caring about others' feelings, asking for help, and treating each other fairly.
