PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Being Active Is Being Healthy

Category: Motivation

Suggested Grade Level: K-6

Materials: 8x5 paper for the background; construction paper for the letters, SpongeBob, Patrick, flowers, clouds, sun, turtles, island, shells, soccer ball, baseball & bat; bubbles; glue; scissors; & CREATIVTY!

I wanted to motivate everyone to be active by using characters that all ages loved. I chose Sponge Bob and Patrick because they are a big hit with all age groups. Everything in this board was hand drawn and made. Even Sponge Bob and Patrick were drawn free hand. I had Patrick playing baseball and Sponge Bob playing soccer. I added flowers, turtles, an island, clouds, pineapple house, and a 'muscular' sun. And if you look closely in the bubble between the words "being" and "active," you will see Plankton trapped inside! This bulletin took me 10 hours to make, but in the end it was worth it!

The title is called "Being Active Is Being Healthy" because I wanted to motivate students and adults to get moving. It doesn't matter what activity they choose as long as they are active. Because being active IS being healthy!
