PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Step Up to the Challenge

Category: Beginning of School

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials: cardboard (for 3-D steps), fitness and sneaker photos, Ellison letter and shape cutter, backing paper, physical education border, goal cards for steps

This bulletin board, posted at the beginning of the school year, illustrates the building-wide initiative of "Stepping Up to the Challenge" in terms of behavior, academics, fitness and general well-being. Our goal as a school is to challenge students to set high goals and strive to reach them throughout the year. The concepts of goal setting and rising to meet a challenge are also an integral part of our physical education program. We want students to set goals that are challenging and then work to reach those goals. This quest is evident as students try new skills or activities and work together as a team to achieve mutual goals.
