PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Little "D" the 5 Food Group Dragon

Category: Nutrition

Suggested Grade Level: K-5

Materials: posterboard, markers, colored pencils, scissors, computer

Little D is not only a bulletin board for the students to learn about the 5 Food Groups, he is also a character in a story about the Royal Food Group Family.

The students listen to a story about The Royal Food Group Family (Sir Milkford the Scholar, King Henry the Egg, Queen Anna Banana, Princess Peapod, and Prince Waffle) who help Little D the dragon overcome his bad eating habits, which were causing him to lead a sedentary lifestyle. The students get to make their own Little D dragons and include foods that go into each food group. We encourage teachers to use the bulletin board as a reference to teach the 5 Food Groups and good eating habits.
