PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: PE Is Cool!

Category: Student Work

Suggested Grade Level: K-2

Materials: Student work via index cards or sticky notes, construction paper, clipart images

Right before our Winter Break, I asked some of my K-1st grade students to share their thoughts about why they felt PE was "cool!" This gave students the opportunity to share their thoughts in writing in addition to showing student voice in physical education within our school community.

I wrote the sentence frame "PE is cool because ________" to help inspire my student athletes and writers. I then printed out clip-art images of penguins and placed a student response with each penguin. My students and their families really enjoyed this bulletin board as they could practice their reading skills in addition to having a prompt available in discussing their thoughts about physical education.
