Title of Bulletin Board: Science and Physical Education

Materials: Cut out letters for the title, assorted pictures of students who participated in a family fitness challenge, assorted science terms and definitions
Every year in partnership with the "Greater Fall River Fitness Challenge" our school carries out a school-wide family fitness challenge. For the months of February-April we ask our school community to take part in physical activity as a family. We also ask that they share pictures and information about what they are doing and who they are doing it with. The information is all recorded in a family log-book. As the pictures start to roll in we capture the science behind their movement and physical activity and share it for all to see. For example, some pictures discuss the force of an object being lifted. We discussed the ideas of "push" and "pull" as it applies to movement. The bulletin board also looked into gravity, buoyancy, friction, and heat, just to name a few more. The children were very proud to see themselves along with their families on the board demonstrating how science and physical education integrate.
