PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: How do you raise your heart rate?

Category: Physical Activities

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: Small cards, bulletin board letters, red ribbon or yarn

I asked every student and staff member to think forward, and then back, to one activity that made their heart rate go up during spring break. Each person wrote (or drew) a card compiling a huge pile of fabulous activities from running to gardening to playing at a playground. My goal was to give my students, families and staff as many ways to improve heart health as possible. I added the heart rhythm to make the board noticeable and to bring the message to the forefront. It's been great to watch classes walk by and and show each other the cards that they made. This is creating a culture of talking about the different ways we can be active.
