PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: How do you stack up?

Category: Sport Stacking

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials: Lettering, photos, extra speed stack cups, examples of types of stacks (3-6-3, 6-6, cycle), Guinness World Cup stacking informatio, flags from countrie, worlds record, school records)

The purpose of his bulletin board is to introduce and encourage students to participate in the sport of speed stacking. I use it to kick off my unit and to remind the students of the Guinness book speed stacking event that we participate in. Many students love this unit because it's not the typical sports unit and allows a different focus in our PE classes The students are amazed at the number who participate in the record breaking event and the numerous countries they come from. The records give the students something to aim for and I allow the students who are the fastest to put their name and time on the board at the end of the unit.
I create letters that say, "How do you stack up?" And then use the flags, cups, photos, record information, stacking event information to decorate around that.
