PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Presidental Active Lifestyle Stars

Category: Fitness

Suggested Grade Level: K-2

Materials: Stars of various sizes, construction paper, flag pictures, large Presidential Active Lifestyle Award Log

This board was created as a visual aid for students trying to earn the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA). Students were given PALA Logs to take home and work on. When they bring their log back completed they get a star with their name on it and they place their star on the first level (Week 1). Each week they bring their logs back completed, they move their star up a level. When they reach the top, they have earned the award.

On top of the board is a sign that says Presidential Active Lifestyle Award that is decorated with stars. I divided the door into six sections (one for each week), and put stars with Week 1 - Week 6 on the left side. I decorated around the door with stars and American flags. I also put a large sample log that I fill in daily for the students to see my log.
