Title of Bulletin Board: Modified Football

Category: Sports

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials: Construction Paper, Ellison Die Cut Machine & Supplies (optional), School logo (optional), Pictures of visual cues (optional)

This bulletin board was designed for an elementary modified football unit. The purpose of the board was to reinforce the performance cues for throwing and catching a football as well as to diagram what a modified football play could look like. The board also shows the specific passing routes that were taught during the unit.

Blue paper is used at the top 1/3 of the board to represent the sky. In the sky is the words "Modified Football" which was cut using an Ellison Die Machine. Below the title is 5 separate pieces of construction paper, with computer print outs of our throwing and catching cues along with pictures representing the cues.

The throwing cues taught are Point, Step, Twist, Throw. The catching cues taught are Diamond Hands, Pinky Hands, and Spider Fingers. The students are encouraged to catch the ball away from their body using their hands.

The middle and bottom of the board is half of a football field (green paper) with white sidelines, goal line and, yard lines. The numbers for the yard lines were also cut out using an Ellison Die Machine. The left side of this section has the Quarterback represented by the uppercase Q and Receivers represented by the uppercase R. The brown construction paper is used to display receiver patters on the field. The right side shows the six passing routes that are taught during class. At the 50 yard line is the logo for the elementary school.
