PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Dear Santa (Christmas)

Category: Holiday-Christmas/Winter

Suggested Grade Level: K-5

Materials: computer generated sports equipment pictures

On the board I feature two kids who have written a letter to Santa requesting toys for fitness, health and active play. First letter reads, "Dear Santa, Please send us gifts for Fitness" Your friends at "name of school". The second letter reads, "Dear Santa, We love toys that keep us active and healthy." Surrounding the kids are snowflakes with pictures of different active toys. Front and center is a picture of new tennis shoes! Also balls, skis, skates, WII fit game, etc.

This bulletin board encourages kids to ask for healthy toys and to remind parents to select healthy toys for their children. It is in full view for all who enter the gym for class and for the Holiday Program!

I would never use this idea in school! What about the other religions who do not believe in santa? Bad idea for this day in age in my opinion!
