PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Driving Under the Influence

Category: Health

Suggested Grade Level: 9-12

Materials: Black cloth, Street Sign foam stickets, construction paper, pictures for street signs

This bulletin board was created to raise awareness about all of the influences and distractions High School students may encounter while driving. Many believe "Driving Under the Influence" refers strictly to alcohol, but that is not the case. While alcohol is a major cause of driving related collisions, it is not the only one. Cell phones, driving with friends, not wearing seat belts, listening to the radio, and not obeying the speed limit are other causes of collisions. The board depicts these influences/distractions on street signs. The street signs swivel up to reveal statistics and facts for each encounter behind the wheel. We hope students will see this bulletin board and remember it the next time they are driving.
