PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Protect Your Brain

Category: Safety

Suggested Grade Level: k-2

Materials: Cartoon Pictures, Gluestick, Cutouts of snowflakes

Our school does a Winter Program every year. This is a program that lasts for 10 weeks and students have the option of participating in Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Cross Country Skiing or Ice Skating. It is required that students participating in Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding and Ice Skating wear helmets. This board is hanging outside the Nurse's office and was created as a fun reminder, with a simple and important message, on why they must wear a helmet during the ski program. It's been a real eye catching board because of its bright blue background and big cartoon pictures.

This board has served as a great application for reinforcing the importance of wearing a helmet. We have a lot of students that ride their bikes to school in the spring and skate board as well. We also use this board to remind them that they should be wearing helmets during those outdoor activities as well.
