PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Social Emotional Learning Railroad

Category: Character Education

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials: construction paper, clip art of groups of children getting along

With the big push on social emotional learning in our district I have designed this board to educate students on important character traits to focus on every 2 weeks. The train cars each represent a different character trait with one of these trains in the "Depot" and its definition below it. During PE we constantly reference these traits and what they look like in PE and around the school. The students also have "huddle" groups in each class and each of these groups colored the clip art of children getting along and these are the children in the train. The character words are as follows: Respect, Honesty, Sportspersonship, Trust, Judgement, Pride, Integrity, Character, Poise, Class, Loyalty, Unselfishness, Caring, Enthusiasm, Courage, Confidence, Commitment, Discipline, Principles.

Additional Information:

These words are taken from the book Character Education by Donald Glover/Leigh Anderson.
