Title of Bulletin Board: Build Physical Activity Into Your Winter
Suggested Grade Level: All
Materials: Poster paper for background, winter boarder, snowman cut-out, snowflake cut-outs, individual cut-outs of indoor and outdoor activities that can be done in the winter, and letters for the title
This bulletin board provides students and their families ideas of how to stay active during the long winter months. I used a snowman to represent the "building" of a winter physical activity inventory. I listed both indoor and outdoor activities that could be done at home or in the community other than the typical winter team sports. Examples are:
Outdoor: sledding, skiing, snowboarding, make a snow fort, shoveling, making snow angels, cross country ski, snow shoe, ice skating, build a snowman, have a safe snowball fight, build snow sculptures, and PLAY!
Indoor: have a scavenger hunt, play charades, play with a pet, volunteer in your community, dance, hula hoop, bowling, go to the batting cages, Household chores, go to an indoor water park, and play Wii Fit.
