Title of Bulletin Board: Dizzy from Dependence

Category: Health

Suggested Grade Level: 3-5

Materials: Cut out of person, Letters, List of "grocery" items, Shopping List template, Expo Marker, Shopping Bag

This board was set up for a 5th grade level classroom. It went along with a unit over alcohol, tobacco, and caffeine dependence. The purpose of the board is for students to make healthy choices regarding food and drinks, instead of choosing foods and drinks with a lot of caffeine and sugar, choosing healthier foods.

This board has the title at the top: "Dizzy from Dependence" The core content and directions are along the left side, with the 'I Did It' sheet and answer key at the bottom right. Dizzy Dave is placed at the bottom of the board in the center. The shopping list is to the left of Dizzy Dave, along with the marker. Grocery list items have Dizzy Dave's head in a swirl as they are scattered all around him. The students are to "help" him choose the healthier items, and condense it from the list that he has scattered. Items around him include: chewing tobacco, beer, liquor, energy drinks, candy, chicken, carrots, peanuts, oranges, celery, and juice, among others.
