PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Fine Arts Classes of the Week

Category: Motivation

Suggested Grade Level: k-5

Materials: Basic bulletin board materials

At Warrior Ridge Elementary, the fine arts classes are located right by each other in the building with a long bulletin board shared by all 3 teachers. In an effort to promote positive behavior and earn awards, the music, art and PE teachers respectively award a class of the week. The bulletin board serves as a visual reminder of who earned the award that week for positive behavior and following school wide expectations. In addition, the classes earning the award also earn a "trophy" from the teacher to keep in the classroom all week. The PE teacher hands out a golden shoe. The music teacher hands out a toy air guitar, and the art teacher awards a sculpture. The principal makes the class of the week announcements every Friday morning and students return and pick up their respective trophy from the school office.
