Title of Bulletin Board: Exercise - For A Healthier You!
Suggested Grade Level: 6-12
Materials: Clippings from magazines, cardstock, design stick ons from crafts store, poster board, glue, stencils, markers
This board was put up outside of a middle school gymnasium as a way to help students understand some of the negative consequences of a sedentary lifestyle. The middle list consists of several effects (long term and short term) of not exercising regularly. Many middle school students are still reachable through images. In addition, I listed 5 ideas for setting goals about starting an exercise program as well as different activities that they can do to exercise. In addition, I filled the board with pictures of boys and girls engaged in many different types of physical activities. Also, this school participates in the NFL's play 60 program so I put a few of the stickers from the program on it as well. The idea was to show that exercise does not necessarily have to be hard work, playing and being active doing something you enjoy is what is most important.
