PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Food Groups

Category: Nutrition

Suggested Grade Level: K-2

Materials: Colored paper, floor tape, computer (optional)

In our discussion of the food groups, I wanted the children to be able to see the various foods that were in each food group. We made a lesson out of it. I had the tails (floor tape) already on the wall and the children came forward during our cool down time and pulled a food out of a box. They decided what kite it needed to go on and we taped it to that kite's tail. If they weren't sure we talked about it and I helped them with their decision.

Additional Information:

I have used the kite and tail idea for other things such as comparing sports and equipment that is used with each sport.

Cute idea! I would probably make sure the kite color matches the color of the food group from MyPyramid for consistency (i.e. orange=grains, red=fruits, green=veg, blue=milk, purple=meat and beans)
