PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Winter Olympics

Category: Olympics

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: Construction paper, cut out letters, bulletin board paper, medal cliparts

This bulletin board was created in honor of the the winter Olympics going on this year. Each class in the school grades K-6 were separated into three countries [USA, Canada, Germany] During each PE class students participated in simulated winter Olympic events. Each event students learned about the history and the new Olympians competing for the gold. Each week the medals won for each country were calculated and placed onto the bulletin board.

On each side of the Olympic rings there were two additional items geared towards the Olympics: 1) The Olympic Creed with the message that the most important thing is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered, but to have fought well; and 2) the Olympic Motto: Citius, Altius, Fortius (Swifter, Higher, Stronger)

Each ring stood for a character trait of a champion:
Green- Brotherhood
Black- Integrity
Yellow- Excellence
Blue- Perseverence
