Equipment Name: Skating Booties
Materials Needed: Shoe Booties can be donated by your local hospital or cable company. These are the little booties that cable installers put on their work boots before entering your home or the ones doctors where to go into surgery. Most companies/hospitals are willing to donate a box or two if asked.
Estimated Cost: $0.00
Rationale: These are great for introducing kids to skating techniques and can be used in a gym. Students place booties over their shoes. If your gym floor is a wooden floor, these are perfect for simulating ice skating without the fear of really slipping and falling. Students can be taught the technique needed to ice skate and roller blade while staying on their own two feet. Best to use with older elementary kids like 4th/5th graders.
