Purpose of Activity: To better motivate our students, we allow them to pick their own roll call lines. Points are awarded to each roll call line when students belonging to that group exhibit behaviors that help use the class time more efficiently. Prerequisites: Explanation of the program and how points are earned. Suggested Grade Level: 6-8 Materials Needed: Roll call cards, sheet to keep track of points earned. Description of Idea Students choose their own lines for roll call. Each line can earn points for demonstrating behaviors that make the class run more efficiently (e.g. lining up on time, doing routines together, homework turned in, group fitness lap times, dressing correctly, etc.)
We try to give points for anything that helps to make the class operate much more efficiently. All the points are positive. The students enjoy this practice and they are constantly motivating each other.
After 6 weeks the top teams are taken bowling. We then start the process all over again. |
