PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: College Football Scoreboard

Category: Common Core in PE

Suggested Grade Level: 3-8

Materials: football helmet cut outs, large area for scoreboard, art supplies, internet acces

Description:

This board is created to help make a connection between sports and math. The students begin by choosing a college football team that they will follow throughout the season. The first part of the project is to do research about their chosen college such as location, degree programs offered, and other interesting facts. The students then create the math data board by using their football team's current wins and loss record. From this information they are able to create a fraction, ratio, percent, and decimal. The students then update their team's information each week.
This project and bulletin board helps students learn more about a specific sport, collect and analyze data, and also promote higher education among our students.
