PE Central Kids Quote of the Week
For week beginning Monday, September 23, 2002
One of my higher functioning austic students was refusing to jump rope one day, demanding baseball. When I said we had no baseball stuff to play with, he put his hand out like he was holding something and said, "Invisible baseball". I said, "OK, three hits...then jump rope." While the classroom teachers and student helpers worked with the other kids, the student took three swings and ran the invisible diamond three times. He picked up his jump rope and began working. When I was walking away, he approached me and tapped me on my shoulder. He put his hand out and said demandingly, "I need my ball back".
