She is the President and CEO of Aerobic Fitness Consultants, and the creator of KID-FIT, physical education classes for preschoolers. KID-FIT has been piloted nationwide, featured in the L.A. Times, and is currently taught around the world.

Bio:
Cathy L. Smith has been a teacher since 1975 until 2015. She taught middle and high school regular PE in Los Angeles City Schools then started teaching Adapted PE in 1982 until 1988. She move to Colorado where she taught for Denver Public Schools as the districts Special Olympics Coordinator and Adapted PE. She was the adapted PE teacher of the year for the state of Georgia 2000 to 2003 and runs the website adaptedPE.net.
In 2000 she moved to Georgia where she taught Adapted PE for 10 years and regular Elementary PE for 5 years.
She has presented at the National Adapted PE Conference for over 10 years. She as also presented at GAHPERD, AAHPERD, and Southern District AAHPERD conferences. Cathy was the Southern District AAHPERD Adapted PE chairperson in 2003 and the Georgia AAHPERD chairperson in 2013-15. She is currently CAPE certified.
Cathy is retired but still presents at conferences and works with disabled adults with Guided Tours.
Cathy is an avid volleyball player and competes at senior games in Florida and competed at USA Volleyball national 2016 in Orlando, FL. She also plays beach volleyball competitions in Florida.
Cathy is also a disabled ski instructor and worked as a volunteer for the National Sports Center for the Disabled from 1988 - 1998. She has also been a ski instructor for the Shining Stars for over 26 years, which is for kids with cancer or life threatening illness, in Aspen, CO.

Pete Charrette is a Nationally Board Certified, 30 year veteran physical education teacher from Powder Springs, Georgia. He has a Master's of Education Degree from Georgia State University and a Specialist in Education from the University of West Georgia. In 2009, Pete was selected as the GAHPERD Elementary PE Teacher of the Year and in 2017 named the Jump Rope for Heart Coordinator of the Year. Pete has served as a National Trainer and Scorer for the NBPTS and has worked as an Adjunct Professor and Collaborative Teacher with Kennesaw State University. Dr. Brent Heidorn is the Associate Dean for Research and Assessment in the College of Education at the University of West Georgia. Prior to this appointment, He was the program coordinator of the Health and Physical Education Teacher Education program where he has served since 2007. He received his doctoral degree in Physical Education from the University of South Carolina and has been teaching health and physical education content since 1996. He has more than 150 presentations at the national, state, and district levels, including more than 50 professional development workshops. Brent is a national presenter for the Presidential Youth Fitness Program (PYFP), Physical Best, and Implementing the National Standards, all supported by SHAPE America. He has received numerous awards throughout his career and is an annually invited guest presenter for several school districts in Georgia. Dr. Brian Mosier taught physical education for four years (2001-2005) at public schools in Tallahassee, FL, while earning a master degree in Sport Management. Brian then was an instructor at the Florida State University (2005-2010) while completing his doctoral degree in physical education, and is currently in his seventh year as an associate professor at the University of West Georgia and is the Department Chair of Sport Management, Wellness, and Physical Education. Dave has been a Physical Education teacher in Paulding County, GA since 1997. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Kennesaw State and his Master’s degree in Physical Education Curriculum and Instruction from Western Kentucky. He opened Nebo Elementary school where he built a well-respected program and earned Teacher of the Year in 2012. He earned Teacher of Year in 2015 for his innovative program at P.B. Ritch Middle School. Dave also was awarded the prestigious 2015 GAHPERD and Southern District SHAPE America Middle School Teacher of the Year. He has also served as the volunteer elementary and middle physical education professional development coordinator for his district. In 2008, Dave was selected to be on a team of sixteen physical education specialists to write the current Georgia Physical Education Standards. Dave developed the “PEPALOOZA Workshops” and has presented at many local, state and national conventions. He has secured over $40,000 in grants that have led to the purchase of classroom sets of equipment that have allowed many middle school students to experience activities such as rugby, disc golf, longboarding, circus arts, fly fishing, back packing, yoga and mountain biking. Scott Ronspies is an Associate Professor at Eastern Illinois University in the Department of Kinesiology and Sports Studies. My research interests include physical activity/fitness promotion and assessment in youth, youth obesity, curricular/instructional models, effective teaching constructs, and academic achievement and fitness. The courses I teach at EIU include Elementary Physical Education Content (KSS 2400), Elementary & Secondary Physical Education Methods (KSS 3400/3401), and Graduate Research Methods (KSS 5000). Dr. Kozub is a full professor at the College at Brockport and has taught at the University level since 1997. His primary research interests have focused on teaching children with disabilities, motivation and physical activity behaviors in individuals with and without disabilities. In the late 1980's and early 90's, Dr. Kozub was a physical educator in the public schools of New York and coached football, baseball, and basketball. Dr. Kozub is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (NSCA) and has competed nationally in both powerlifting and olympic style weight lifting. He has been a powerlifting coach for athletes with intellectual disabilities for the past four years and has prepared lifters for regional and state powerlifting meets.

Tom Winiecki is a Physical Education teacher in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District in Central New York State. He has taught at the elementary level since 1981. He was named the NYSAHPERD Central North Zone Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2003, the NYSAHPERD Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the year in 2010 and the NFL Network Physical Education Teacher of the Year in 2013. Tom was National Board Certified in 2005 and re-certified in 2015. He serves on the District Curriculum Council, Technology Committee and Wellness Committee at Fayetteville-Manlius. He is also the K-12 Physical Education Curriculum Coordinator at Fayetteville-Manlius. Douglas W. Ellison is an assistant professor of Physical Education Teacher Education in the School of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum Studies at Kent State University. Takahiro Sato is a Japanese native and an associate professor of Adapted Physical Education in the School of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum Studies at Kent State University. Takahiro's scholarly interests focus on physical education teachers' beliefs on teaching students with disabilities, diversity and social justice of students and teachers of color in physical education, and international students' experiences in higher education. He is a nationally certified Adapted Physical Educator and a Fellow of the Research Consortium of SHAPE America. Dr. Joanne Leight serves as professor and assistant chair of the Department of Physical and Health Education at Slippery Rock University. Since arriving at SRU in 1996, Leight has taught 23 different courses and created a Minor in Coaching. She currently serves as NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative for the university, and also a Teaching Fellow, overseeing the Center for Teaching and Learning at SRU. She earned her B.S. degree and M.S. from SRU and her Doctorate of Education from Duquesne University.
Dr. Leight has a passion for technology. She served on the NASPE Pipeline Technology Committee, and also served a three-year term as technology editor for the Journal of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (JOPERD). She is currently the Technology Chair for the Pennsylvania State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (PSAHPERD). Her professional accomplishments include numerous technology-focused presentations, publications, and grants. She is the author of Technology for Physical Education Teacher Education, now in it's second edition. She is also a Google Certified Innovator.

I will be starting my 11th year of teaching next year as a K-6 Health & Physical Education teacher at Dover Elementary in Dover, PA. Jorge Rodriguez is originally from McAllen, Texas and now lives in Houston. He attended the University of Houston where he was a high jumper on the track team and earned his Bachelors degree in Kinesiology with a minor in health. Jorge later went on to receive his Masters degree in Educational Leadership from American College of Education. He is currently a physical education teacher at Harvard Elementary (an IB and STEM magnet school) in the Houston Independent School District, and is a Lead Teacher and the KEY teacher for physical education for the district. Justin A. Haegele, PhD, CAPE is an assistant professor at Old Dominion University in the Department of Human Movement Sciences. He received his Bachelors in Physical education and Masters in Adapted Physical Education from the College at Brockport, State University of New York, and his PhD in Adapted Physical Education from The Ohio State University. Prior to pursuing his PhD, he was an adapted physical education teacher at a school for children with autism spectrum disorder in Queens, NY. In addition, he has been a co-director of Camp Abilities Alaska, a one-week developmental sport camp for children with visual impairments, since 2009. In 2012, Dr. Haegele was selected as the New York State Adapted Physical Education Teacher of the Year from NYSAHPERD. More recently, he received the 2015 David P. Beaver Adapted Physical Activity Young Scholar Award from NCPEID.

Bio:
Mr. Steve Shelton became a faculty member in the Department of Health and Human Performance at Radford University (VA) in the fall of 2012. Steve earned his B.S. in Health and Physical Education from Radford University in 1991 and was a member of the men’s cross country team. He coached boys and girls cross country at Christiansburg High School (VA) from 1992-1999 and in the process coached two state championship teams, enjoyed a national ranking in 1994, and was named Timesland Coach of the Year by The Roanoke Times on five occasions. Steve was hired as the physical education specialist at Christiansburg Primary School (VA) in 1993, a position he held for 15 years. After a successful transition to Christiansburg Elementary School (VA) in 2007, he continued his education and earned his M.S. in Physical Education Teacher Education from West Virginia University in 2010 and became a certified Physical Best Health-Fitness Specialist. As an active member of the Virginia Association for Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance (VAHPERD) and the West Virginia Association for Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance (WVAHPERD), professional activities have included six presentations at the annual VAHPERD state conference since 2008 and five presentations at the WVAHPERD state convention since 2014. The Virginia Journal has published articles Steve authored regarding systematic self-supervision techniques, the association between physical activity and academic progress, and insights related to presenting at professional conventions. Additionally, Steve has become a contributor to the PELinks4U website (www.pelinks4u.org). Recent professional activities and honors include continued work on the PECentral.org Lesson Ideas Advisory Board, and in 2011, Steve was nominated and selected on a competitive basis as a national finalist for the NFL Network's Physical Education Teacher of the Year award. Steve continues to direct the Southwest Virginia VAHPERD Workshop, an important outreach commitment to increase membership and services to health and physical education professionals and students in southwestern Virginia and beyond.

Misti Wajciechowski is an assistant professor at Virginia Commonwealth University in the School of Education. She has 18 years of public school experience and currently is in her fourth year in higher education. She received her Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from VCU, is Nationally Board Certified, and is working toward her PhD in education. She has presented at the National, State, and local levels specifically on the topics of pedagogy and incorporating technology into the field of health and physical education as a means to enhance the educational experience for students. Misti was chosen as the Virginia Middle School Physical Educator of the Year in 2004, the National Health Educator K-12 in 2010, and was just recently selected as the College/University Physical Educator for the state of Virginia for 2015. Sandy is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin La Crosse, received her masters from Marian University, is certified in adapted physical education and has over 30 years of experience teaching elementary physical education. She is the author of "Teaching Children Responsible Behavior, A Complete Toolkit". The book is based on Dr. Don Hellison's work with TPSR, teaching children personal and social responsibility. Sandy has received the WHPE Recognition award for her contributions to our profession, named the WHPE Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2009 and was on the state standards team. She has been awarded the Kohl Fellowship award in 2010 for inspiring the love of learning, showing leadership and service both in and out of the classroom along with the Green Bay Area Golden Apple in 1997 for her innovative use of literature in physical education. Dana Zimmerman is the new Assistant Clinical Professor at University of Wisconsin River Falls, River Falls, WI for Adapted Physical Education. He was born with cerebral palsy, but hasn’t let a disability prevent him from pursuing his dreams. Dana ran track, cross county, and cross country skied for his “abled-bodied “high school and college teams. He won the N.O.V.A. CARE Award and was selected as the M.I.P. skier on the team. Dana was also selected as the BEST Ropes Course Director at Camp Zanika. He has been a member of 2 Paralympic teams and won a silver medal in Sydney, Australia for the 1500m race for track. He has taught Adapted Physical Education for 6 years. Dana has a wealth of information about working with students with disabilities and would love to share it with you.
