Joy of Effort Award Mark Manross, PEC Exec. Director January 11, 2005. Mark Manross, the Executive Director of PE Central has received one of NASPE's highest honors the Joy of Effort Award. This award is given in recognition of those individuals who, by performance and style, have personified the concept that the effort made to enrich the goals and objectives of physical education and sport is a labor of love, inspired by commitment and dedication. Congrats Mark! NASPE Presidential Citation Mark Manross, PEC Exec. Director April 1, 2004. Mark Manross, the Executive Director of PE Central received NASPE's Presidential Citation for his work on the PE Central Web site.  Presidents Challenge Outreach Award July 11, 2003. PE Central was presented this award for it's committment to improving the health and fitness of all Americans through the President's Challenge Awards Program through the Web site PE Central designed with Pepsico in conjuction with the President's Council entitled The Get Active Stay Active Log site (no longer in existence).  Curriculum Award Winner from District Administration Magazine February 1, 2002. Congratulations! Curriculum Administrator Web Site Awards February, 1999. In the February Issue of Curriculum Administrator PE Central was recognized as an exemplary K-12 curriculum Web site. Out of 500 reviewed sites PE Central was one of the top 36 awardees which was based on "appropriateness of content, instructional design, quality of interaction with the learner, and the creative and effective use of online technologies." The review read like this: This Ultimate Web Site for Health and Physical Education Teachersä contains a gold mine of lesson and assessment ideas, links to interactive instructional materials, best practices and professional resources. The site also maintains extensive links to the top Web sites in physical education including gymnastics, dance, outdoor recreation, playgrounds, sports and fitness, as well as information on finding grants and fund raising. Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators is a respected portal site for educators that has been on the Web since June of 1995. I have instituted an award this past week to highlight the sites (of the more than 1600 the Guide contains) I feel contain exemplary content. Your site has received the award!
