Week 29: April 7-11, 1997

IA Name: Hook on Tag

Grade Level: 2nd and Up

Equipment: Cones for general space

Directions:

Have students find a partner and ask them to find a good space within the coned off playing area. Have the partners face the teacher. Ask them to hook their elbows together and have them put their outside hand on their hip.

Identify a chaser and a chasee. On the start signal have the chaser try to tag the chasee. If the person being chased joins the outside hand of a partner group, the person on the other side must let go and he/she becomes the new chasee.

If a chaser gets tagged, they reverse roles (i.e., chaser becomes chasee).

Variations

  • With older children use two or three chasers and two or three being chased.
  • Have students use locomotor movements other than running.
