Week 16: Dec. 16-20

IA Name: Here, There, and Everywhere (p. 42)

Grade Level: 2nd and Up

Equipment: Cones for general space boundaries

Directions:

Have the students stand in a good self space in the playing area. When the teacher calls, "Here," students move toward the teacher using a locomotor movement (i.e., skipping, leaping, hopping) other than running. When the teacher calls "There," students move to where the teacher is pointing. When the teacher calls, "Everywhere," students move freely in general space using the entire space.

Variation:

  • Each time the teacher calls out one of the commands the students must choose a new locomotor movement to use.

    Safety Tips:

  • Make sure you tell them it is not a race to get to "Here" or "There".

  • Stop the game if the students are aren't moving safely.
