Name/Title: Tennis Racket Labeling Assessment

Purpose of Event: To cognitively assess K-1 students about the 4 major parts of a tennis racket.

Suggested Grade Level: K-2

Materials Needed: Coloring sheet handout/assessment

Description of Idea

I have found this assessment useful in my tennis lessons for younger children. After visually showing them the racket and the four parts, it is good to go back and assess them on this to check for understanding. While their handwriting may still be developing, coloring is an easy way for them to show they understand the directions.

Students are given a coloring sheet of a tennis racket and are given the following directions:

1) Color the head of the racket blue
2) Color the face of the racket orange
3) Color the throat of the racket red
4) Color the handle of the racket green

Once they have this sheet, have 4 piles of crayons out with the 4 mentioned colors and have the students color in the correct areas. Collect sheets after they are done.

Variations:

This is also good to give to classroom teachers to have them complete this after a tennis lesson.
