PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Be Active Stay Active

Category: Motivation

Suggested Grade Level: All

Materials: large pre-cut letters, fabric background, border with feet, tag board, student activity photos

The phrase, "Be Active Stay Active", was placed in large letters on the bulletin board. Students and staff supplied photos or hand-drawn pictures of themselves being active. These photos were mounted on tag board with the person's name and activity written under their photo. The sheets of tag board were then displayed near the bulletin board. With hundreds of photos, our display extended 30 feet down the hallway! The bulletin board/hallway display promoted physical activity and the MANY ways to enjoy being active.

Additional Information:

We sent a note home with the children at the end of school the previous year to alert parents that we would like a physical activity photo for a display in September.
If possible, display your photos at the eye level of the children for better viewing.
The students loved looking at their teachers' photos.
Our school superintendent also supplied a photo - involve as many school employees as possible, cutodians, cafeteria employees, secretaries etc.

Thank you so much for a wonderful idea. I lead meetings once a month for a small business. I am always looking for positive and motivational ideas to keep the employees interactive with co-workers and the public in which they serve. Even tho this was meant for grade school children, your idea can be adapted for any age even those who are physically challenged. Thank you so much!!!
