PEC: Bulletin Boards for Physical Education

Title of Bulletin Board: Happy Fall Y'all: Football/Soccer

Category: Seasons (Fall, Spring, etc.)

Suggested Grade Level: K-2

Materials: Paper, cut out balls, feet and hands from students

I made this bulletin board with my Kindergarten students. During a soccer unit I told them that soccer is called football in other countries and in the United States our football is a different game. They had problems understanding that soccer is called football in other counties so we made this bulletin board.

Soccer is played with your feet, so we put soccer balls on the shoes. Footballs are caught with hands so footballs we placed on the hands. We decorated the board with seasonal things (scarecrows, pumpkins, etc.). I also used this time to have students list games that could be played with the hands and feet and we made a list that is hanging in the gym. The students now also have a better understanding of what Football and soccer are and the differences between them.
